what kind of a gasket scraper is recommended for cleaning the surfaces of the cylinder head and the camshaft assembly?

Just did this job - used dad's Snap-on scraper that is probably as old as me. In fact - I installed the newly painted/resealed camtower about 15min ago.

I always use a non-metallic scraper on an aluminum cylinder head. A beveled piece of hard maple or a piece of beveled Plexiglass. One wrong slip with a metal putty knife and the head can be damaged.

And should I hold it at 90 degrees?

I used WD-40 and a rubber scrapper. Don't use steel if you can help it.
