Default I'm back!!!!!

After a week without internet access, don't ask it was expensive, I'm back.
Anyway, just an observation.
As some of you know, 944's are as rare as hen's teeth in Oz. I travel through at least 15 roundabouts on the way into Cairns. The ones on the Highway are double lane, the ones on residential roads are single lane.
The look on the faces of the drivers of Modern cars (Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi and the so called sports cars like WRX's and Mazdas) when I fly past them around a circular piece of road is priceless! Hell! I'm not even exceeding the speed limit!
Thank goodness for 20th Century German engineering!
Plus my brakes and steering and handling are better than theirs!
I LUV my car!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just in Brisbane for 2 weeks and can confirm that a 944 sighting is quite rare. I saw one the entire time and was commuting 1 hour each way to work (west of Brisbane). I did call several wrecking yards whilst there and found one that specialized in European parts who had a (euro) rear bumper for $450 Australian. That would be around $330 US. No bargain there.... I'm not sure if the airline would have let me check it anyway....

Brian,
Faster than a WRX? As much as I love my 944 (which is heaps, had it for 8 years now) it doesn't get close to a WRX. The Subaru will outhandle a 944NA or turbo hands down, on roundabouuts or anywhere else for that matter...
I've had a few altercations when I lived in Melbourne... Yarra Boulevard.. it would pull away so fast around corners or straights...my head was spinning..
also was on a skid pan event earlier this year(wet)(Sydney Eastern Creek) with my 944, WRX will eat you.. MX5 (Miata) is a good match for a well prepared '44NA though..
Wish it were otherwise. Still I would much rather be seen in a 944 that an ugly jap bucket.. no matter how fast it is.

Rob
