Default Progress on the repair of the 85.5....

I have not posted in a while. Busy in the garage. I thought I would post up some pics. The 85.5 944 I bought four weeks ago is looking a lot better.
Thanks to Dan (XSboost90) I have the parts to fix the car.
I am the proud owner of the Rock's Turbo bumper/headerpanel/fenders/etc.
lets hope my 86 944 does not veer off and try to hit signs and or trees!

I removed the front clip from my car and put on the turbo nose:

I then put my front end parts on the 85.5 944:
Before and after.

I wanted to get everything lined up then take the body panel back off and paint them. I have spent so much time lining things up I may just paint them on the car.

Next is putting the valence on and putting new hoses in and putting the radiator back in the car. This sucker should be running by October!

dude that looks great! Did you pull the struts out or get new ones? Looks killer? Did you repair the nose?

No, the struts are still in a bit. the gaps are a little off when you get close but I think it is close enough! I cant wait until I get the 85.5 together and drive some.

Looks good...

I haven't looked into this mod, but converting the front of an n/a to a turbo is essentially bolting on the bumper, nose and fenders?

Judd,Looks like you have done a lot of work.Make sure that you perform an exorcism on the car before you drive it. You know how Rock seems to be everywhere.Btw,what happened that you need to do these repairs, trouble returning from the FEST ? FRED

no, the drive from the fest was fine. I bought the Red 85.5 from a co-worker when her son put it under an SUV.
I am bringing it back.

That's the simplified explanation. It is a little more involved than that but for a decent shade-tree, it's not bad. With changing the headlight bulbs being a "1", and rebuilding the motor being a "10", I'd give this job a 5ish rating. Its an easier job on the post-85 cars, but it can be done on earlier cars as well. Besides the above stuff, you'd want the black plastic headlight surrounds, the bumper support and shocks, the turnsignals, and the foglights. The N/A front sidemarker lights are the same as the 951's so those can be re-used. Be certain to get as much of the wiring back from the 951 turn signals and fogs as possible, because the wires and connectors aren't the same as the N/A and you would need to do some splicing. Once the job is done, it would be a good idea to pick up the 951/S2 tow eye that screws into the bumper support, as you will lose your tow-point when you get rid of the N/A bumper.

As a sidenote, you could do the job without the 951/S2 fenders if you are a good bodyman or know a shop that can do the work for you. The N/A fenders can be modified in the front corners to fit the different curvature of the 951/S2 bumper cover. All it takes is the removal of a *slight* bit of metal and re-working the lip.

It was right before I had to go to work when I posted that (just like today ), didn't want to go in to too much detail. Shoulda said that I guess. Tifo would also be the man to ask about it since he did a A+ job with his 944. slightly ot tifo, you have anything else changed body wise on your 944 since the s2/968 wing and turbo front end?

It has 968 mirrors, a euro (not a copy) rear bumper, 951 side skirts and rear valance. I think the last thing I added was the AIR brake ducts (that replace the fog lights).

Here are the most recent pics on my computer from late last year when I was messing around with some 935ish mirrors (that I decided against using and sold to a fellow rennlister for his track car).
