Glad to know you were able to eliminate the bumps, I'm sure it looks even better
Hey Greg,

these are all excellent possibilities.
Here is a shot of what I had in mind. This is just a rough draft:

You should keep in mind where you usually rest your hands on the steering wheel. That particular area should probably be black in a 2-tone design.

Thanks for the pic of the 2-tone wheel Paul, just what I needed, another possibility!

Since this thread was originally about 'modernizing' our interiors, here's a list of what I've done and a couple of pictures:

1. Leather dash cover from Rob Budd. Black on top, Champagne on bottom
2. Leather console cover from Rob Budd
3. Two tone shift ****. Black is stock, leather boot is from Rob Budd
4. Stainless shifter cap from Joe Jackson (Rennbay has them too)
5. Aluminum gauge rings - Ebay German vendor
6. 'PORSCHE' on steering wheel in brushed aluminum - decal from 35thSLP
7. Autometer Sport Comp gauges - Egauges.com
8. 968 door panels. Originally black, dyed quilted part Champagne w/SEM dye
9. 968 red hazard switch - Sunset Porsche
10. Aluminum **** covers - Prestige Parts in the UK
11. Blaupunkt Acapulco CD/MP3 unit - Ebay
12. Red led instrument lights - Flamingeye.co.uk
13. Armrest cover in champagne leather - Aglausa.com
14. 968 outside temp gauge - Ebay (not installed yet)
15. Aluminum vent louver control covers - Jageng.com
16. Lloyd's floormats - Pelican Parts
17. Seats refinished/redyed professionally- Cindi Westmiller, local leather expert
18. Partridge - In a pear tree...

Whew, I think that's all, I'm sure I forgot something... Here's the pics, I included the second one because it shows the 968 door panels.

Dang Greg, I need to get in gear. I also need the Prestige aluminum **** covers (Did you get those off ebay..if so how much vs. the store price?) Do the vent covers just glue on or do the kind of wrap around and are held with glue? Do they have to be engraved? Thanks.

Sam: I just broke down and bought the **** covers direct from Prestige in the UK. I hope you get them, I'm anxious to see them on the CF trim. The vent covers wrap around and then glue on and yes, they do have them available with 'turbo' or '944' on them. I went back and forth on whether to put any script on them and ultimately decided to not put anything on them, just wasn't sure if it needed to say 'turbo' four different places, I figured if I was confused as to what car I was driving, all I needed to do was put my right foot down.

Testarossa - If you're feeling spunky, how about a little PS of the airbag section of the steering wheel in champagne? Despite your able assistance, I still suck at PS!

This has kind of been my inspiration:

That is a superb interior Greg, the problem is that you didn't leave much for me to do

You seem to have made all the right choices and Rob did a great job.
If I had to pick on something, it would be the leather console cover. It would have been nice to have 2 French seams on the edges to give it an elegant custom look that ties in with the rest.
But that is minimal and certainly not necessary.

The only thing left I could help you with aside from the steering wheel, as those seats if you ever decide to bring them back to new.
I am coming out with an updated versions of the traditional Porsche seats where I will replace the piping with French seams. That updates the look tremendously while staying true to the original design.
I will post some pictures when they are ready. I'm doing 2 sets of 928 seats right now, but the technique will easily translate to the 944.

Impressive interior Greg,

Paul

Thanks for the kind words Paul, it's been an ongoing project but I'm very pleased with the results. I agree, I was hoping Rob would put some French seams on the console edge but I think he was trying to keep the cost down and this was the first one that he'd done. Please keep me/us posted on the seats, that sounds really nice. I don't know that I'd redo mine as they are in perfectly good shape but the thought of a set of sport seats in nice, new, soft champagne sort of sets my heart atwitter!

Testarossa - Thanks man, you rock. Interesting look, I'll have to ponder that one. If I did that I think I'd have Paul do champagne stitching on the wheel rim to tie it all together. What do you guys think?

No problem.
My answer is no on the steering wheel. Too much champagne will get you drunk
Like the Ferrari above I think you need the contrast.
But what do I know..I have an all black interior...

I'm with you. I thought I was really going to like it but it's too much. Tan stitching might be cool though. Thanks again.

Here's what I really want to do with the steering wheel...and yes, it will fit and the airbag can be connected. I have the wheel, just trying to source an airbag for less than $500!

Greg - luv the black carpet with the tan seats! That two-tone look is the juice! Did it originally come with that combo or did you swap the seats / carpet?

Here's what it looked like the day I picked it up 2.5 years ago. A solid foundation but lots of work since then!

Awww shucks, Sharky, you're way too kind. The k27/6 with the Vitesse MAF is still my favorite part though
