Might be as simple as cleaning the rubber seal and lubricating it, worked on my 968.

Sorry to be blunt, but its in your manual

To save you the trip from computer to glovebox: 2 bolts on the underside of each receiver. Loosen them up and keep fiddling until you get a good fit and tighten. Also, lube the pins as you see fit.

A lot of people don't have their manual.
In my case I had the opposite problem. My hatch would open up as I was just cruising down the road.
I fixed it by losening the bolts on the catches on the body, (not the pins), turning the catches so that they were parallel with the body of the car and hold them in place as I re-torqued the bolts. It fixed the problem.
Granted though, my hatch won't open when I turn the key, on it's own, I have to apply a little pressure to get it to pop open.
But opening it like a trunk is much easier on me than stopping the car on the highway to go close the hatch again :-D

Calmchaos: I think you and I are using different terms for the same part. Receiver = Catches. As in pin receiver.

Scott
I know we were both talking about the catches, I just didnt want him to think that I was talking about the hatch pins when I wasnt.
I just wanted to say that I found parallel to the body to be the best setup for me.

I didnt mean to try to take away from what you said.
Sorry

Are we talking about the Owner's Manual ? The link is for an '87(?) but the info for the body parts should be mostly the same. Better than nothing if you don't have it.

Jack,
Thanks for the link. That should help those without manuals.

Brett,
No biggie. I understand.

Dan,
Thanks for hacking up my quote to try and make me look like a jerk. Way to take things out of context. To answer your sarcastic question, see Jack's posted link. Or even www.clarks-garage.com
