90s2...bent valves?
HI
My 1990 944S2 quit running..few weeks back..many things whent wrong at the same time i guess..and in the process of trying to fix a no pulse to injector problem..i guess the pad on the tensioner broke and the chain got loose and both cams lost a bunch of teeth..i had no compression at all in all 4 cyl..
Now the head is ready to come off...and im looking into the intake valves and they dont look bent at all!?!?!? as seen from the intake side of things..head is still on..now im reluctante to take off the head..if all it needs is a new pair of cams!
Could i just pour some liquid?!?!? into the intake and see if it leaks thru to the cyl? meaning a bent valve?
Or i def. have bent valves and..im just naively hoping for the best?
Thank you
all the best

hmmm ok i keep thinking of this and i may just be way off but hear me out...
So assuming the exhaust cam did not slip off the mark, only the intake!..how could the piston have hit the valves??? lets assume it skiped something like 2 teeth..Doesnt that just mean that the intake is just opening a few degrees too late?....Am i way off on this???

If the chain breaks at idle or cranking it might not bend valves. However since you are doing the cams it's not a huge deal to change the head gasket and replace the valve guide seals while you are in there. It's probably a good time for a general freshening up.
