I guess the point I was making was hottrodders will mix it up no matter what. I've seen Ford engine transplants in pretty much any marque you want to name. I'm not touting any brand in particular, I just think these kind of comments are funny.

What was the point you were making? LSx is ok, but anything else sucks?

Basically. Mitsubishi = unreliable, Nissan, nice engines but I'd never put one in a pcar, Mazda, laughable. Ford, pure ****, but > Mitsu. Why deal with crap when you can run the best of antiquated tech (LSx) Have you tried the Hybrid boards?

Ashton we're talking about NORMAL circumstances here, not random barn/garage/junkyard/friend of friend finds.

I have no desire to continue with this conversation of "let's throw out every engine in exsitance and find out Mike's opinion on it"

Hey man... Seriously, be honest with me...HOW many Hondas, DSMs, Nissans and Toyotas have you owned??

I love everyones opinions, when they're educated opinions, I.E. real world experiences...

I know i just popped on Rennlist on Monday so you don't know me from any other jerk out there, so I understand the doubts, etc...

In MY experiences, the only cars I've ever had to seriously work on and maintain have been german cars and american cars. I bought my 88 Civic Wagon for $200 at police auction and drove it for over a year with no maintenance, with the same oil that it had at the auction...

I used to be just like you, check the old archives, I used to bash hondas and jap cars and called em all junk and everything... Until I got my 88 wagon. My goal with it was to destroy it in a week and then post pics about how much of a piece of junk they are...

Well, 24,000 miles later with no oil change or any kinda maintenance at all it was still running... I used to start it ICE COLD and just peg the rev limiter for 30 seconds every day TRYING to get the POS to blow up or spin a bearing, even with OLD nasty black oil and abuse like that it never broke... In fact I ended up selling it for $1000 and buying my Talon with the $$$....

Ive also got an 88 CRX Si and an 89 Civic, my civic has 275,000 original on it and runs like a top, nothing but a timing belt/water pump ever been done to it.

Ive also had many many VWs, Ive had Jettas, Sciroccos I even had a Rabbit (A1) with a 1.8L 16V converted to run on Digifant EFI (it was a diesel so smog exempt) A lot of VW guys said Id never get the Digifant working w/the 16V and that it was a waste of time, etc... well it worked

Anyway Im not flaming you MPD, I just wanna know what cars you've owned and out of them how many were JDM/DSM/Honda/Nissan and how they broke or became POS to make you hate JDM cars. IF you've never actually owned one its kinda hard to downplay them...

I used to hate Mustangs too until my Cuz got a 94 Cobra... Wow that changed my mind!

I think the Porsche guys tend to be a little "elitist" and if it aint German it aint ****... I tend to make my judgements off experience, not internet opinions. Like I said, kick back watch the action unfold, its my $$$ and time so its not costing you guys much hahaha

what about the 4g motor is unreliable? the 1st gen eclipse motors are basically bulletproof unless you're a retard and tune them wrong (like with any engine), 2nd gen eclipse motors have crank walk, and then there's a few years absence in the Us scene, but in japan, they're still running strong.

they just recently replaced the 4G motor with the new thing that's going into the EvoX.

Exactly...Im running stock 14B turbo, buschar 3" downpipe and stainless full length exhaust, removed honeycombs from the MAF, cut the airbox, 370cc/min injectors, HKS EVC-4, VDO boost guage and a Autometer narrow A/R meter...
Running at 16psi it never goes lean and pulls strong. I don't drag race but I ran it a couple times for laughs.

Rev to 6500, side step the clutch and look out. My center diff is welded and I have a Galant GR4 JDM trans w/LSD and LSD in the rear diff...

My 60' times were 1.8 second on street tires and the best pass was 13.10 at 101mph... Keep in mind I have less than $2000 total invested in the car... With a 16G, 550cc injectors and my SDS I could easily dip into the mid 12s...

The problem with it is its HEAVY at 3200# curb weight... That was the idea of stuffing that same motor turned down to 12-14# into the 924... approx 275HP in 1/2 the weight. Yah I lose the AWD, but I gain better brakes, handling and P/W ratio...

My dad has a spare Viper V10 motor, we wanted to put that in the 924 but its just too long to work, unless you wanna sit NEXT to it hahaha... Wish I coulda tho

LOL, Im basically there now...

the problem is the viper 6speed is wayyy too long.

With the engine and tranny in the car, I'd have to put the seat in the back like a doorslammer drag car hahaha...

My dad/mom have a SRT-10 so he bought the motor as a spare for that. $13000 complete with trans and all the EFI/etc.

It really won't fit...trust me

Ive also pondered doing a turbo quattro 5cylinder motor, they bolt right to the 924 bell housing (016/9 pattern) and the 924 was originally designed for them, BUT again, its an EXPENSIVE motor to fix/find/replace...

I'll stick with the $500 long block w/turbo DSMs hahaha.
