See second Gen DSM with 7 bolt crank, puke its guts out...Im not arguing that.

I have an early SIX bolt motor...It'll make 400HP and stay together...no problem. Im at 275-300 on stock 14B turbo and 16PSI boost with an A/F of 12.7-14.5....

I love the DSM...Ive beat mine to death. And it keeps going and going and going

Besides, its FREE

Anything other than an 944 series, LSx, 928 swap is a waste of time and money.

rb20 is a total and complete waste. rb25 or an Sr20 would be interesting. The only advantage an rb20 has over an sr is the sound. They are heavier and make the same power and have more reliability issues. I have several friends who are big into 240s and I know the cars fairly well.

SoCal, please post some pics of the 4G in a 924. I for one would love to see it and I love people thinking outside the box.

i thought i knew all the other hybrid guys. Will ask Scott at Renegade who owns this car. It DOES seem like he could use some more camber to keep that tire flatter in the corners.

So that means it's OK to drop a 951 engine into my car, right?

i have the ls1 in my 87 na, so i guess i am ok. a guy wants to give ( yep free) a 914 roller than i am contemplating the STi swap into. Not sure i am ready to take on another conversion just yet. Spent 7 months last year converting the 944. It is not rocket science but it was tricky for me due to my limited mechanical skills and experience.

You know I will

And I agree, and RB26DETT would be OK, but they are long, or maybe a 2JZ Supra motor.

I think an FD 13B turbo (single turbo conversion) would be cool as well....

MPD cracks me up, hey man, its my car If I waste my time and money, at least you'll have good pics to look at on the way...

I dont see why some people think its so hard to put a motor into a different body, these guys called "hotrodders" have been doing it since the 30s (LMAO )

Think about it... The D50 trans is physically much smaller than the 924 bell housing, the 4G engine itself is also smaller... By swapping to front trans you can ditch that HEAVY torque tube, and not have to worry about the bearings in it taking a dump. At the rear, the diff is similar in size/shape to the old trans, but a lot lighter as theres no gear set in the case. The rear axles work the same way and the shafts are almost the same diameter...

4g63 motor WITH turbo installed...nice and compact compared to huge 951 motor/J pipe, turbo, wastegate....

Heres some pics of the engine w/tranny attached (stole the pics, not mine) and pics under the rear of a Talon showing the differential and the diff/axles on the ground....

The shifter comes up thru the hole in the tunnel, and the tranny clears the firewall with no hassles (and if it dont on my car, a sawzall and a mig/sheetmetal will fix that)...

I know its not the most "orthodox" swap out there, but this car is basically a rolling cage, theres nothing in it anymore, just the 10pt cage and lots of missing sheetmetal. I would NOT reccomend doing the 4G swap on a street car with an interior, it would be a nightmare in fabwork.

In my case, the car is stripped and ready, should go pretty fast once I track down a 1/2 way decent trans. I have everything else.

I'd love to do this:

Its a custom cast 4G bellhousing bolted to a W55 supra trans, but it puts the shift tower about 4" infront of the hole in the tunnel of the 924, so you'd have to run some kinda funky bent shift lever to make it work, but the W55 holds 600HP where the D50 only holds 300.... BUT my car weighs a LOT less than the cars the DSM guys are using so Im hoping it wont break the tranny at 275HP. Plus I don't do drag race starts....

Ive been around all these cars for the last 8yrs, Ive thought about this for more than 10 minutes hahaha...

I crack you up? Atleast I'll have photos to laugh at. Yeah, hotrodders. You dont see a Ford Small Block in a Chevy Bel Air do you?

And yes, a 951 engine is perfectly acceptable in your 944
(although not cost effective).

The LSx series works beautifully in most cars, is lightweight, compact, and makes gobs of power, which is why it's acceptable. It really is an engine for "everyone".

Is that supposed to mean something to me? Chevy makes some decent products whereas Ford just continues to dig a hole?
