NorCal fun run 8/26/06, drop your plans and make it!
Hey everyone,
I know this is short notice. But your fast cars can make up for lost time, so be sure to keep or make your schedule clear for next Saturday. Chris and I did some exploring in the east bay last Friday (he's been up there before though) and the roads we found were great. Some east of San Jose, some more northward going to Livermore. And since Roger just got a new bbq grill (he's in Tracy) it seems like a fun drive in the east bay ending at Roger's house is in order.
I've never done this before, so I might be changing some of the small details as we go, but as of now the plan is to go from Mt. Hamilton to Tracy. I'll talk to Chris, and I'm open to suggestions, about the initial meeting place, specific routes, etc. Depends on whether we want to end up in Livermore, and take 580E to Tracy, or just go East and hit hwy 5 and take that to Tracy. I'll keep you updated.
Again I know this is kinda sudden but Chris Luckett, Andial951 and I are gonna do this and we'd like some fellow enthusiasts to join us.
EDIT - car list:

Sounds good but I can't say for sure yet, I'm still doing a few things to the car. I will let you know that the 3rd Skaggs Springs-Stewarts Point Coastal Run is set for Sunday, Sept 10th and the 2nd Sierra Fall Run is planned for October 7th or 8th. Just thought I would give you a heads up on both runs. I'll keep an eye on this thread for updates.

i'm taking monday and tuesday off to renew my license, get the cats put back in, fix the 02 sensor, get new plugs in and an oil change, and smog the 951, so if i still have enough money for gas after that ( ) i should be in.
steve- what's the place you used to smog your 951?

well see, right now i have to smog the car, and before i do that, i have to fix the 02 sensor cuz i'm positive it's **** itself, cuz i'm getting ~220-250 miles to 15 gallons of gasoline.
so like,14-16 mpg.......
and i had to use the car to commute all week.
oh, also on monday i'm going to the dealer to pick up some banjo bolts, at least one of them has Esteban's name on it.

what does smogging your car have to do with a drive next Saturday? Ormaybe your just setting up the scenario for future excuses of why you were going so slow on the ride..........."I didnt put the O2 sensor in thahts why I'm so slow"....or "I had to put the cat back in and its clogged"

Roger, you need to smog your car too? Psh, come on man, just get rid of it. I have a 944 that is smogged for another year, and passed the last test easily. I'll make you a deal - even trade. But seriously, when we end up at your place for BBQ, will it be for lunch or dinner? We always start early and end with lunch, and that seems to work well for beating traffic, but I can't imagine any traffic on the roads I saw last week, even in the middle of the day on Saturday. Anyway, it's your call.
Steve, I guess this run cuts it kinda close to your Skaggs Springs run, but I don't think this is gonna be one of those runs that gets you exhausted (unless you're behind Roger's unsmogged car). No worries if you can't make it, but I hope you can.
I'll start downloading google earth and I'll see if I can buy one of those fancy schmancy road maps that shows every single driveway and dirt strip in existence, then I can start mapping out a route. I'll keep you guys posted. Anyone who's familiar with the area, please chime in with suggestions. I think the run will start in San Jose (like the eastern outskirts) then we'll go to Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton. From there to Tracy we have lots of options.
