You know...you could just swap a new front clip on it then have the front end resprayed. The rest of the paint is in good condition so it would be easily matched. It COULD be done. Doesn't sound like you want to though. Car is gorgeous.

I hate to be an ***, but that car really should be fixed - it's worth it. Those cars are too rare and too nice to be chopped up. A titled shell can be had for a small amount of money due to other people parting these cars out. You will need to purchase some additional items, but all in all it will be worth it. I would do it in a heartbeat if I could afford to buy it as it stands complete. My dad and I repaired a car that was wrecked in the front end, granted the frame wasn't bent - but I barely spent $1000 on it by the time it was done - it was a late sunroof-delete car so it was "extra" worth it because of the rarity of that option.
Fix it - the reward will be worth it.......

To echo Sharky47, I say fix it. A quick buck from parting such a nice car is not worth the decades of enjoyment it could bring someone if it is restored. Especially if you are 944/951 loyal. Which your sig shows you most certainly are. I'm not trying to knock you or anything. Just my opinion that parting it would leave a bitter taste in the mouth of more than one rennlister.

If the owner wasn't lying to me, 9k bought this car. I tried to buy it last week and was second in line. I ended up in Florida this same weekend buying a turbo S. We probably passed on the way back. What I want to know is why he would modify a 12k mile turbo S?

I really appreciate all the enthusiasm and passion about repairing or parting this car. I am not sure if some of you remember when I bought that grey S2 off ICEshark with no interior and non running. I ended up putting that car back together and put a number of good miles on it even though it was rumored to already have over 300,000 on it.
The low down on this car is that I can't afford to fix it up especially after what I had to pay for it. I know some folks on the board have the funds to get upside down in their car but the only way I can drive a p-car is to stay somewhat solvent in it. I don't have the original seats or wheels or brakes or suspension so I can't sell off the mods to make up some ground. Best case scenario it would be 6 to 7K to put the car back together and have just the front repainted and that definetly wouldn't be a job that a 12k car deserved. As Phi1720 pointed out I really do like these cars - anyone here in the Atlanta area can vouch for that. I take meticulous care of my car down to striving for many orignal aspects that only folks on a board like this would know about. Maybe I shouldn't have bought it if I couldn't fix it but at the price it was I am not sure anyone could have bought it and fixed it.
The idea of a titled shell doesn't really appeal to me because when you are all done you have lost the integrity of a 12k mile car. The beauty of this car was its originality from the factory IMHO. Not to mention that I would be upside down in that endeavor as well.
I apologize to anyone that I might offend by parting this car and I again offer to sell it as is to anyone that is interested. PM me your phone number and I'll give you a call about it. This car before the wreck was offered at $30,000. Previously it sold in June 2003 for $32,000 with 6582 on the od and new for anyone interested it went for $49,842.

Hi Kevin,
Yep - you are right on the purchase price. Your guess is as good as mine on why it was modified. Usually the original parts are retained so that it can go back to stock. The fellow I bought it from bought it modified as it is now to the best of my knowledge. I know that he had the original seats but they were promised to someone else. There were a couple other things that were strange like the air pump tabs are broken, the key code tag is missing, one of the glovebox arms is broken, there wasn't a jack or handle and no sunroof bag. I am not sure if the 88 turbos had a battery cover but that was missing. The spare was a little banged up – that might have happened because th jack was loose. The PO might have just misplaced a couple of those last items as I know he had recently moved or was in the process.
