*Feeler* 83 944 FS
Im looking first to fellow rennlisters to help me out with the sale of my 944. First off i will give you the details.
1983 944 N/A
59,000 on the clock
All records
Timing belt replaced, DME computer, and oil changes every 3K.
It run's great. Looks great. Its Guards red with black interior, seats are very good and so is the rest of the interior. The outside is very good. The fuch's were just repainted, and the car has always been garaged. Front splitter is scratched but it will be repainted.
To rate the car i would say at least a 9/10 if not 10/10.
My thoughts are to ask around 10K.
Im in Apex North Carolina, 10 minutes outside of Raleigh, and can transport the car within resonable means if need be.
Please let me know what you all think, and also were would be the best place or place's to advertise.

10k wont happen unless the market changed substantially in the last 2 weeks ive been gone, unfortunatly boxsters are cheap now, so these cars have to become even cheaper...

Start looking at the classifieds online- the ones for specialty cars. No one looking for a sportscar would consider an '83 944. $10k can a later model turbo.
If you're really wanting $10k, you have to find someone willing to pay for a really nice early car. Try a collector car site's classifieds and let the ad sit.

An 83 is far more rare, though. ~5200 American cars were produced, and I'd guess that half of them live. Of the 2500-2600, maybe 1/5 are in truly great shape. So the car is 1 of 500.
On the Boxster pushing 944 prices down, well, the 944 didn't push 914 prices down for long. The 914 is a great car that shines on the track, but the 944 has a lot on a 914 in terms of construction and drivability on the street. Rustproofing is one big plus.

Still... Stop end for early cars is in the $5-$6K range... Yeah, its 'lowish' in miles, but at this point not 100% original. You might get $10K for a 944 with half those miles and no paint work.

You can't really set a cap for prices. Even if you asked for 20k, there is always a buyer out there willing to pay that much for such a low mileage 944.
Although 10k could get you a clean 951, I don't think it is completely out of line given the condition and mileage. Finding a buyer, especially here on Rennlist, may be difficult but if you advertise enough and are patient a buyer will eventually come along.
