I agree - Tacky. Get rid of it. I would think a little paintable calk over the holes and some touch up paint and you would hardly notice...

I just used Marine Tex to patch a battery box hole and thought the stuff was pretty damn tough!

Maybe try it on the holes instead to the pain in the *** of the weld up.

i hate those things. you have to buy lighted bolts for the license plate to be legal. the po of one of my former cars did this and left some huge holes in the back, right through part of the option code sticker. the consensus was, i would have to have it tig welded and then filled and painted to fix it properly. then there were the holes in the bumper to fix.

i'll have one fs next week hopefully. Im going to MIG some small metal into the hole, grind it smooth and trim black inbetween the lights. The rear bumper may just get touched up for now but really should get it TIG-ed closed and repainted as well.

I think just as many people like them as hate them....but the ones that like them are less likely to speak up
They work on some cars better than others. Some are better designed than others. Either way you got holes in your car in an area that is just begging to let rust and exhaust collect...and that licence on the bumper just looks horrible!

Liking the panel is a matter of opinion. Like Testarossa said, it works on some cars, and not on others. For example I think it's terrible on a red car but OK on silver. All in all I don't like them. However, the license plate being on the bumper doesn't have much subjectivity to it - it's just ugly, and a bad idea. If someone taps your car while parallel parking, the lighted plate frame will break. This has happened to my mom's 944 several times. The frame has more JB weld on it than actual plastic.

I think the real problem with the panels is that the color never matches the break lights. If they were the same red all the way across it would look much better. They also look funny at night with the two license plate lights sort of almost backlighting them enough to read.

Here is a pretty well executed rear setup for those who like that sort of thing.
And a fellow rennlister. And as far as consistent color...just Testors candy apple red all the red across the back and you will not have that problem.

Dude that looks nice. But since the tail lights are all-red, and the bumper pads are deleted, along with the "944" and the "PORSCHE" decal, the back end is way too red.
