XP: Carpet kit sources
I am planning on redoing my carpet to cashmere/ champagne. Does anyone recommend a place that sells kits? I contacted World upholstery and they quoted 690 bucks for stock slivernet carpet and around 350 for domestic pile. Anyone have any experience with the difference in the piles?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Nope.
It's not awful but it's not the same quality as OEM.
Just installed in my car.
If you just want to replace the carpet it's fine. If you want something nice like the original look elsewhere.

I am not sure which place sold it but I remember someone saying the kit they got was nice except the rear carpet didn't have the thick foam backing like the OEM carpet did.

Have used both World Upholstery and Trim Parts (which is what Stock Int. and Mid America carry) and can say that WU is superior in the domestic cut pile sets. Higher quality carpet, more detailed trim work and better over-all fitment. I prefer to use the cut and bound sets rather than molded so there is a lot more trim involved. Less original but a cooler more vintage look in my opinion.
Have done 2 cars in OEM sliverknit from WU and it is the best, but 2X's the cost of domestic. 2 cars in domestic from WU, and 2 cars now with Trim Parts domestic. All depends on what you are looking for but you do get what you pay for in this case.
BTW I have a complete brand new carpet set from Trim Parts for the 85.5+ 944 in Med Gray domestic cut pile if anyone wants it. Still in original box. I'm to the point now where no carpet is the best carpet.

I got some stuff from Trim Parts a couple of years ago for a 944 I ended up selling. I bought it off ebay, but it came drop shipped from Trim Parts.
It was crap.
It did not fit.
Came with a bunch of extra pieces that did not fit anywhere.
Had an upholstery shop install it. They said it was the worst **** they had ever seen.
It was like they ripped out an old carpet and then tried to use that for the pattern. It was 2 inches too short on the drivers side.
