Has anyone ever had just one panel of their seat repaired?
My driver's seat is in excellent shape except for the lower(bottom) butt bolster has two splits in it probably from people sitting down on it while getting in the car. Since the seats are Porsche signature cloth there is definately no way of getting an upholstery kit for them and I was just wondering if anyone has had just one panel replaced on their seat, and how it came out? I think they could probably do it but I am a little concerned on how well they could attach a new piece of vinyl to the piping around the seat.
Also does anyone know of any good upholstery shops around SC/ NC/ GA?

I had the same prob. on both seats, took the seats out, removed the backs and took the bottoms to a local shop that does a lot of work for dealerships.
He replaced the panels that were split and they great! About $100.00

The PO on my car had just the left side panels of the driver seat replaced. It's a burgundy interior, and the new panels aren't quite the same shade...so not such a good turn out. There's a bit of a ridge in the piping where the new stuff was put over the old stuff, but that's not really noticable unless you're looking for it.
If it were black I'm sure it'd be unnoticable. I have no idea about the cost though.

I did it with a few panels in my black leather 911 drivers seat. The result was excellent, however the new panles made the old ones really looky crappy in comparison.

The piping is a good question - Im unsure of that but if you do replace the panel and it doesnt match- redye all the vinyl panels the original color (+ it will make them all look new anyways) I replaced two bolsters on my M3 and they were not a perfect match, redyed them with Leatherique and now you cant even tell.

I've had it done as well. Should cost $150 to $250, depending on your luck and whether you use leather or vinyl. Looks good -- would be indistinguishable with a dye job. I would suggest asking them to match it out of a sample book rather than just ordering material that is supposed to match. I've gotten a better result this way.

Thanks for the tips. My seats are signature cloth with the sides being vinyl, so replacing the panel that has the split shouldn't be too bad since its not leather.
