Busy day in the Fredericksburg 944 hospital........
Well my dad and I spent most the day working on various front-engine watercooled P-cars today. He was working on my brother's car, an '85 that we rescued from the crusher - just about finished repairing the air dam, car is mere moments away from hitting the road again. I was getting some initial engine bay cleaning on my dad's 951 that we bought as a pile of parts. He has been working so hard on everyone's car but his, so I am getting a jump start on getting his together. I plan on rolling it into the shop in the next week or two to start the real labor.
I also washed my daily driver, this is another car that was going to be parted - victim of a low-speed collision with the back of a pickup truck. I still need to adjust the bumper and would like a nicer hood - but it serves very well as my nice daily driver.

Working on Pcars with your dad is an awesome way to spend a day. My father and I spent many days wrenching on cars. He has been dead for over 20 years. I would love to be able to go back in time and relive one of those days. Enjoy the time you spend together. It seems we never know what we have till it's gone.

Dr. Porsche - yes, sorry about the lack of response - but to answer your question - I am a lathe programmer, not very knowlegeable on the CNC mills although I do enjoy using the manual one. Also, we really don't do any Text, out machines do not have "fonts" in them so any type of text has to be programmed geometrically - you can imagine the complexity of this.......
Yeah, I do enjoy working with him - taught me most of what I know about wrenching on aircraft/cars. Still getting him used to working on P-cars though - I am kind of a neat freak when it comes to these cars - anything I take apart I must clean spotlessly before I even think about re-installing it. All seals must be new, I won't reuse rollers unless I know their history, I NEVER reuse belts - even accessory ones unless I know they are less than a year old......stuff like that. Sometimes I have to secretly throw stuff away to force him not to reuse things, and so it goes......

Most dumbass PO crap - looks like he made a sport out of crashing into curbs......he also broke the fog lenses so he cut the spade connecters off, used sheetrock screws to install Walmart foglights, and then twisted the wires together with wire nuts - yuck! Since I am using the foglight pockets on my track car as brake cooler ducts, I gave the lights/lenses/mounts to my brother so it has been returned to properness........

Sure is - belts are holding up fine, now that I have the Arnnworx tools I am going to revisit the balance shaft belt and see if I can quiet it down a bit.......

Looks like the garage my dad and I have built...one race car 944, one race car 944 underconstruction, one potential race car 944 w/o an engine or tranny, my daily driver, a 924S (former race car) parts car on the way over when the 67 beetle (one owner, 54XXX miles) is fixed up, sold and gone...
Oh, I envy that non-sunroof coupe...I think I found a rolling chassie (sp?) just north of were I live, a gold one
