Default AC Problems...

For some reason just now my AC now only works when i have the fan dial on #4 also when i just want it to blow air it only works when i turn the fan dial to #4 , what can be the possible fix(s)? It's hot here in Houston.

I want to say it is the resistors for the blower motor(engine bay side of the firewall IIRC). Search and see what you can find.

do the other fan speeds do nothing, even with AC on or off? if so its the resistor pack that is oin the blower motor towards teh fusebox side.

Yes, nothing happens when i have it on fan speed 1,2,and 3 (with or without the AC on) but when i put it to 4 it blows (like it should)
Do you mean the resistors that are next to the battery?

nope. one phillips screw on each side, white thin plastic piece on the top of teh blower motor near the fuse box. Need to flip the cover up i think. Gotta take it out and try to clean teh contacts inside the resistor.

IT'S WORKING, Man i love you guys (in a manly way though) i did what you suggested and it's working now I did notice that the resistors seemed to have cracks on pretty much all of them. i'm pretty sure that's not to good, but anyways it's working, Do you know the name of this part

I believe its the blower fan resistor? regardless, i doubt youll buy it new, it's like 125 dollars I think!

Cracks on the outside of the resistors are usually fine. IIRC that is just a coating on them. If that's all there is you should be okay.

That said, given the price of a replacement I would keep using yours until it fails.

it's 219.00 at 944online. OUCH
