Default Seat Angle

Just installed my Corbeau Forza II seat and took the car for a spin. I seem to be sitting very upright. Is this the proper angle or can I tilt the seat back a bit? It is very uncomfortable in that position. My first thought is I made a mistake and will be exchanging them.

I put washer underneath the front attachments to shim it and give it some rake. I think I used 5 on each side. You will sit very upright..it's the nature of a race seat. For the track I took out the bottom cusion for height and LOTS of support, and put it back in for the drive home.

Plan on doing that tomorrow. Have to get longer bolts though. How tight should these seats hold you. I have some room to move around. I am assuming that when the harnesses are in I will be more stable.

You are supposed to sit very upright. I read a good check is to lay your wrists (palms facing up) on top of the steering wheel. You should have a comfortable bend in your elbow. Then you are at the right incline for track/autox driving.

In my race car I sit very straight up. I have found it very comfortable and in all my street cars I sit much more upright than in the past.

Sitting more upright actually gives me much more control of the car, but some drivers do like a bit of layback angle. I use a sparco pro2000 seat and it is mounted to sparco side rails at the lowest setting front and rear. It is bolt to the floor at the stock points, but with bolts that go through the floor backed up with large plates. Last year I pulled my seat pad to get more clearance need for my HANS device. I sit really low, but it works quite well. For autocross I don't wear the HANS and put the seat pad back in because I need t little visibility closer in and more side to side movement. When sitting without the seat pad I can barely see over the steering wheel can can't see the frist 20 feet of grond in front of me. Of course on a track that is not problem, but it is a concern in a tight autocross setting.

Just make sure you get Grade 8 bolts and not some "Home Depot" soft crap.

actully grade 5 bolts work fine. The are the same as the factory bolts, but if you go larger like 3/8" diameter they are in fact much stonger than the 10 mm head stock grade 5 bolt.

Seat's just about in and I am adjusting the harness. Where should the buckle be and how tight should the sub-belt be?

You were right on with the last pressure change so maybe I'll listen this time too.

Thanks. Like competing in AutoX with a 944 NA automatic and KYB's all around with almost 20K miles am them is not enough of a handicap.
