Default There's (almost) a dozen aftermarket manufacturers of 944/968 struts & shocks

Hi folks,

You may not realize it but there's almost a dozen aftermarket manufacturers of struts and/or shocks for the 924/944/951/968.

That's pretty good for an older low volume model.

They are: Bilstein, Ground Control, H&R, JIC, JRZ, Koni, KW, Leda, Moton, Öhlins and ProTrac. You can find links to those companies at: http://www.weissach.net/924-944-968_...Suppliers.html

Note that I was going to add KLA to that list but when I checked their site this afternoon, I couldn't find the rear coilover they used to sell anywhere on the site. Have they stopped making it?

Oh and of course lets not forget that Porsche and Sachs Boge still provide some OEM struts and shocks for the cars.

Anyway... a few pics:

Bilstein:

Ground Control:

H&R:

JIC:

JRZ:

Koni:

KW (not the exact model, but couldn't find anything better):

Leda:

Moton:

Öhlins:

ProTrac

Good Grief... I run Bilsteins myself and love em. I have seen Motons and Ledas before and the adds for Ohlins and H&Rs but I had no idea thaere were that many out there.

I just installed the Ground Control package on my 86 N/A with 250 lb front springs. Front is 3/4" lower and used the rear eccentrics to lower the rear 3/4" (that's as much as I could get out of them, and damn, those nuts are REALLY tough to get off). Stage II Weltmeister bars front and rear. The Winning Formula in Louisville did a 4 wheel alignment. A little stiffer than stock, but it handles very nice. Ill see how it does on the track at Nelsons in a couple weeks. The guys at Ground Control are pretty cool to deal with.

Penske... never heard of them ;-)

Seriously, do you have a link to SPA designs. I googled around for them and couldn't come up with anything. I'd like to add them to the list...

Thanks.

LOL...

I have to admit, as cool as the idea of Penskes is, I wouldn't bother with them... would rather run something more common to the car, in order to get better support... for me, I'm running custom Bilsteins...
