Summer heat + fix-a-flat =
These are pics of the aftermath when the FL sun finally took it's toll on the forgotten can of fix-a-flat I stored in a plastic emergency kit in my hatch. Used to store it in the rear seat (where it never had direct sunlight) but moved it to the hatch when I was working on something. Went out to do some yardwork when I discoverd what had happened.
The bottom of the can was found in the backseat. The stuff that was in the can spewed all the way forward to the windshield and is all over the roof, windows, and door panels. It dries hard so I don't expect it to come out of the fabric. When the can exploded, it ripped out of the case, through the hatch lining and hit the frame of the car hard enough to dent it and break the paint on the outside of the car.
Now I have a huge cleanup job in store... like I didn't have enough to do on this car.
Any ideas for cleanup? I plan to scrape it off the glass (gotta be careful around the heater wires) and use adhesive remover on the rest of the interior. Not even going to try and do anything about the fabric but throw it out (it stinks!) and think about replacing it.

Holy crap! Glad you weren't in the car when it happened.
It was nice looking inside, too! Nice colors in the car.
I don't use Fix-a-flat in the cars anymore (actually, I do have a can outside of sunlight in the minivan), but thanks for the warning/reminder!

I had managed to keep the interior pretty clean, so yeah I'm bummed. But the fabric can be replaced (or thrown away and forgotten if I prep it for club racing). Just wish I had remembered that can was in the case and put it back behind the seats!

Oh boy. That blows big time. See if you can find out what the solvent is for that stuff. It would be better to use that than to scrape your glass. You might even get lucky and it will come out of your carpet.

Totally bummed for you man...hopefully this serves as a warning for those who store pressurized cans of anything in their cars during the hot summer!
Especially here in the southern states.
My external temp gauge(968) has read up to 127°F when sitting...that was outside the car! 107°rolling down the highway.

It's basically an oven in the rear hatch. It's convex shape doesn't help either... Ive had plenty things melt in there.
I'd be very "displeased" if I were you - good luck getting the car into its previous condition!

That sucks man. I bet there were plenty of four letter words after that. Like dang & darn & ouch.
Best of luck on the clean-up.
I'm taking mine out of my spare tire cubby as soon as I get home tonight.
