Default So my 16 month old daughter lost BOTH my 951 keys!

ARGH! Somehow my main key has disappeared and my daughter has "disappeared" my spare key, which also had the key code tag!

Any ideas on how I get another key made now? If I give the dealer the VIN# and prove I'm the owner, do they have the key codes on file so they can cut me a key?

I just went to the dealer and had to prove ownership and with the VIN they will provide a key. Takes about 10 days. Slow boat I guess.

If you were local I could make you one about 3 hours. Or send me one of your lock cylinders out of the door hatch etc.

Any good ideas on how to get a spare wheel lock key made? I've lost two extra sets of keys (I can't believe it!!!)- wheel lock & ignition- I have one more extra ignition, but no extra wheel lock keys....

BTW- I went to my dealer the other day & they didn't have blanks for either- they are looking for the wheel lock key, but it isn't looking positive. They DID say they could do the ignition, but they need a blank & have ordered it- they ALSO said they did not need the key tags (which I had w/me & tried to show him, but he said "don't worry about that")... So, Doc, IF your dealer is a larger one, they very well could have blanks & you might be in luck on them just copying it right then & there... It's worth a try... Take your title, etc, just in case...

I had a locksmith come out and make keys for a 924 one time - cost $90, but they worked great!

FYI: This guy: http://www.keys4classics.com can make the ignition or wheel lock keys from a picture of the key and they work great, but it is not quick either. He made me wheel lock keys from a picture of a broken key. Plus I couldn't find the wheel lock blanks anywhere else.

Dealer said they can't make a key from my VIN, Porsche apparently didn't log the key codes to the VIN's or something.

Have you guys been able to get it done with the VIN?

Are you sure that one set might not be locked in the car still? If so, time to enter through the hatch.

I have NO keys for the car now. Getting into the car isn't the issue, as the car is unlocked and sitting in my garage. However, I have no way to turn it on and drive it!

Since you can get into it, you should be able to take a cylinder out and bring it to a locksmith who should be able to make you a key. I've only taken the door ones out, and they were pretty simple. Putting them back in was a bit of a pain though....tight space to hook the plastic link up to the locks. You might have better luck with the hatch one.
