40-49

9 months

Daily driver when the weather is nice (although it was my daily driver last winter-won't be this year)

$6,500 includes purchase price

See signature (also 2002 Chevy Cavalier-my 18 year old son has been driving this car since I bought the 944. However he goes to college in August and then the Cavalier will become my "nasty weather " ride.)

So is the originator of this thread going to chime back in and compile all the numbers? Just from a casual look-over, it looks like most 944 owners are not much older than their cars (in the 20-29 range). That's pretty interesting to me, at age 41, because back when the 944 first came out, I considered it, how do you kids say, the shiznit. Back in 85, when my 944 was new, I was making $4.50 an hour and a 944 seemed almost as unobtainable as a new Carrera Turbo does today. So my 944 represents to me something I always aspired to. Even today, when I drive it, I'm kinda transported back to those days. What does somebody who was in diapers in the 80s see in the 944?

My story is easy..

age group: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, etc. 40-49
how long have you had the car? TEN YEARS!
is it a daily driver, casual driver, track, etc. Daily- all 10 years!
how much money have you spent in restorations, upgrades? About 5 grand.. I really stopped adding the receipts.
what other kinds of car do you have?
Here's the kicker-- It's so reliable who needs another car?

1) 20-29
2) 944-3 years, 924-3 years
3) daily driver
4) 3,000$ just in keeping it stock, and running nicely.
5) 97 Wrangler, rough winters up here in the northeast.

"What does somebody who was in diapers in the 80s see in the 944?"
Whats not to like about a nice hatchback with a strong engine? and no coupe has the same nice lines.

Car is a 1983 944

1.) 16
2.) I have had it a couple months, My dad has had it for like 12 years.
3.) Daily Driver, soon to be DE/AutoX car hopefully
4.) I have put $100 for a ref. sensor, 30 for a car cover, $1400 for fixing A/C and safety miscellania, 20 bux for a throttle cam, 160 bux on tie rods, 150 bux on trnasmission mounts, and 20 bux for used seatbelts. my dad spent god knows how much on getting it near perfect, before I took over.
5.) My dad has a 1967 alfa romeo restoration project, and a 2005 Boxster. The other cars are 1 lame SUV and one lame Minivan.
