Default Any Rocky Mountain 944/924S drivers/Racers

If you live in or around the Rocky Mountains and are even considering building or buying a 944 or 924S for racing or DE please contact Me so I can nag you to death till you build/buy it. Oops did I type that out loud. . I can also help with Parts or even help locate a donor car.

I have just taken over the Regional Director spot for 944-spec (same as PCA SP1 class) and would like to have at least 5 cars for all of the events next year! I have 1 car with 1 on the way (back up). I hope to have a sponsor for next year! Right now we get $150 for first place in TOYO bucks!

The 944 is a great car for learning to Race it's easy but fast. With 944-spec (as with other 944 classes) the mods are limited (less $$$) and the racing is close. Street car to Race car for less than $3000.

here is the forum link for more info.

944-SPEC forum

It does not take long to earn a novice permit so come on out. and have fun.

Thanks

Hi Chuck,

I'm a 951 pilot with a fair amount of DE experience. A local buddy of mine and I are interested in the 944 Spec class and would like to learn more, maybe we can connect sometime soon for a chat?

A friend linked this to me. I race in GT-3 in an 89 turbo, not sure a spec is ever in my future...but I have a friend I've been working towards racing. He's been looking at those 'other' porsche's with the motor on the wrong end..but I'll see if he can be nudged in our direction.

Hey chuck! thanks for taking over the spot... I was just unable to get it together. I've a lot of stuff to do right now, and wasn't able to fit it in the schedule.

Rocky Mountain 944 driver here. But sadly, I don't see any track racing (I do autoX all the time) in the near future b/c I'm a college student and there are no tracks in MT. However, I do plan on making it to the next local DE. When I first joined PCA I wasn't old enough to drive a DE. At the most recent DE there was a 996TT, 996GT2, 996GT3, various 993s (none turbo), 928s, 914s, AND A CARRERA GT....along with various other sports cars that came with the local SCCA.

Bill , have your buddy email me and we can set up a test ride/drive... that will hook him.

Geoff no problem just come on out to Pueblo on the 23 and see us race.

Vaughan You tell him man !

Kyle you car sounds great! All you need is a cage and your off to the races. If money is an issue you might want to think about corner working for NASA. after a working some number of weekends you get free track time with an instructor! and I think a free hotel room? pm me for more info.

thanks for the help and info now lets go racing

I would not want to leave out any information so how about a link to where I think you can find out more ???

http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/

so race is on the 23rd but the night of the 22nd should be a BLAST ! 3 hours straight ! group 3 + 4 HPDE. Group 3 rules will be used and they are just like PCA DE. as far as the race goes I think there will be at least 2 944-SPEC cars running. 1 test and tune, 1 qualifying race, then 1 race.

Also if anyone has any ideas about a series sponsor please pass along the info. It won't take much and we could just about break even racing these FUN cars.

Geoff
Ball joints ! is that it? That has got to be a quick fix. 924S is the VW part right ? that can't be too much and we could put them in in one night easy! and I do mean "WE" if you can get it over to my house we could do it quick!
Now the cage and other mods might take a day or 2.

O YES I ran at miller it was my first 944-spec race ! it was awesome! nasarm rented the whole track! we had a great time. for our second race we did a standing start, there were 2 944-spec cars grided up behind the spec miata's at the start we split the field and passed about half of the miatas before the first turn ! !!!
btw. I came in second !
