I was cleaning the interior of the car and I look in the rear and there is oil leaking.
Photo says it all.

The cap doesn't seem to be the problem, when I take the cap off the oil comes out faster. There seems to be something pushing the oil out. All I did was check the oil level on the dip stick and wipe down the interior, not sure how I caused the oil to come out.
The car is an automatic if that helps.

Nope. I did nothing but check the oil on the dip stick.
The car has been sitting for about a month, so my best guess is that the motion I caused by sitting inside and opening and closing the hood must have triggered sometihing.
Anyone have a clue? Oil should not be flowing out of the cap.

I am not familiar at all with that setup but was trying to assist... is there some sort of check valve on that thing? What car is this on?

Yes it is from the 1986 944. If this was a manual the problem would have been solved by now.
I'll see if TRE or any local Porsche shops can help out.

Good Lord! I found the part on PET. There is an o-ring under the union nut but that doesn't look like the source... there is a strainer inside the housing but my biggest concern is the gasket under the cap, part # 477 321 483 A or worse yet, a crack in the housing.
I hope this helps you...
Here's the PET on it:

Thanks. That should help.
I doubt the housing is cracked, the car has just been sitting. I'm not sure what I did to trigger the leak, but the oil seemed to be flowing out of the cap. Maybe the oil had expanded or water had gotten in to cause the oil to overflow.
