944 is leaking from the rear... why?

I would take it to a shop, I just had my fluid replaced and had new seals, gasket and filter put in, all told about a $200-250 job, the filter, gasket and seals are sold in a kit for about $75 and the labor was about $125-175 for about an hour/hour and a half. I had the same type of leaking, but my ATF wasn't as dirty as yours, just slightly dark.

UPDATE:

I just got back from the shop today. The car drives and shifts well.

All the mechanic did was drain and change the oil in the tranaxle, and all is well again.
