Angry Problem with captive nut on rear belt cover.....

I am helping my younger brother on his '84 944 getting all the belts changed but I ran into a problem. The bottom 10mm bolt will not come out because the captive nut molded into the rear cover spins freely. I tried squeezing the plastic around the nut with vise grips, but to no avail.........ideas?

Drill/Dremel the head off, remove the cover and inspect. You might be able to epoxy the captive nut in place without ruining the threads and be able to reuse the cover. Otherwise a replacement belt cover is pretty cheap used on ebay. If you are planning on replacing pulleys/rollers, replacing the rear cover is a snap. Good time to help your bro replace his water pump too.

The water pump is actually pretty fresh! We are changing all belts (acc. too) and all rollers.

If you happen to damage it and need to buy a new set, I know a guy selling em on ebay.
