about a month or so ago, one of the first evenings nice enough to take the top down I was in the miata with the top down and i got/gave a wave to another guy in a black miata with the top down.

When I am driving around my neighborhood, it doesnt matter what i am driving, if I see a 944 i usually honk or wave and usually get a response....from my brother. i dont bother with the rest of my neighbors.

One told me his friend just got a great deal on a porsche, he told me his friend got a 944 and said it with a look like "do you know what they are". I said "oh, a 944 was it a turbo which looks like the one i am in, or was it a base 944 which looks like my brothers?" i think he thinks i have a turbo even though it says S2 on the back.

 

I always wave at people driving P-cars. 95% of the time i get a wave back or they wave at me first. Last week on my regular weekend drive i saw a gorgeous clean/restored mid 60's 911, the guy must have been 60 years old with his window rolled down just taking a nice sunday drive. I was behind him for about 3 miles and pulled up next to him, he looked at me and at my car and gave me thumps up.
The best one was a 02 996 convertible, the guy gives me thumps up and asks me to pull over up ahead. I park behind him and he gets out starts talking about both cars, real nice guy. I took some pictures of his car and talked some more about the cars and got back in and drove away.

 

Hey Robin, was that you in the white 944 on Alafaya Trail at Lake Underhill around 8pm last night? I caught a glimpse of whomever that was after I had already passed them...was leading a buddy of mine in the car behind me, wasn't watching cross-traffic.

but i will say your eyesight is excellent to see me all the way from Houston!!!

and i will Continue to wave! just like on my motorcycle(s) i wave at all the motorcycle cops. occasionally one will wave back!

 

Probably the best response I got from a Porsche owner was when walking into the grocery store near my place of employment... in the dead of winter. I see a 968 Coupe pull into a parking space, driver gets out and heads in at the same time as . So I break the ice, "Nice 968!"... he says "Thanks." I bring up the fact that they're pretty hard to find in Canada, at which point he realizes that I know a bit more about Porsches than most people. By the time we head out of the fruit/vegetable section, I find out that the 968 is his winter car, has a 996 Carrera 4S as his summer car, and wants to see the results of my 924S rebuild.
