Default Arm Rest with Drink Holer from England

Anyone tired one of these? How is the fit and finish? Could it pass for a factory part?

Thanks

I have no idea as to the quality of the piece, but I can tell by looking at it that if I had a drink in that holder, I'd knock it out with my elbow and spill it all over the rear carpet when I went to shift

You can (or at least used to be able to) get those from Imagine Auto. I've seen them firsthand, they look VERY nice. I agree that it looks like you would be knocking your drinks out of them with your elbow, tho. I've never had one in my cars so I can't say for sure how well they work.

Regards,

Take a hot corner and everything in the tray goes flying. Better to have a lid I think.

Over at Target, for like $7 or less, you can get a cup holder that wedges between the center console and the seat. Seems to work just fine. Granted it takes a little space from the passenger, but typically that's not that bad, and after the drinks are gone, you can remove it and put it behind the drivers seat.

I use my tray w/lid to hold sunglasses, my EZ pass, and some tissues. Once you remove the cassette holders, the tray becomes very usable. Without it, there would be no place for me to put my elbow!

I have one in my car, a can of pop works great unless you take a very hard corner. Then it does not work so great. It is a nice quality piece.

I could see that flying out in a collision or hard corner. The collision part worries me more though.

I bought one from Performance. I put it in the same place as that one. It has rings to hold the cans in place.

Auto Atlanta sells the same thing.

The one I got is from 9xauto. It hangs on the PS of your center console using the existing console screw on that side. I like it alot for my AM commute.

if it cant be closed, it doesnt go in my car.

i tried the cupholder thing in the '84.

first day out, i knocked it loose with my elbow, and got sprite all over the back.

now it's either Propel, or bottles with caps.....

i'm THIS close to banning my g/f holding starbucks in the car. even when she's holding it, there's no containing liquids when i'm going around a corner.....

So they can drink thier coffe while reading the newspaper, eating thier McD's breakfast, and shaving before they reach work.

AndyK has a good point. Remove the cassette holders. The remaining tray makes the perfect place to store a tire pressure guage and spare change. The asstray is perfect for holding gas reciepts.

Drink holders...BAH! I can see it now.. "Help, how do I get coke out of my carpet!"

Giantman...sorry this has gotten off track. Personally, if I can't enjoy a cup of coffee while I'm sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic every AM then a car is worthless to me.

I'd suggest you check out the piece that 9xauto sells before you make your decision. In fact, I saw one on eBay. Link: cupholder I have

Shift faster.

Hey, both hands on the wheel, buddy!

Actually, removing the cassette holders does make that armrest very usable. I typically keep my tow hook in there just in case I get stuck in the Lime Rock bog just outside of the esses again.... (Long story)

Both hands are always on the wheel. I have LONG arms that can lean on the console and door handle and still be on the wheel at 9 and 3 !
