Default Need: Engine rebuild goodies.

I gave up on making the 944 run. I am uber tired of the fix one thing another thing goes type deal. It has been sitting for almost 2.5 years now. Everytime I replace whatever it is that is keeping me from starting it, something else dies.

So, eff-it.

I'm going to pull, rebuild, re-install engine and make it to 944Fest.

Problem - I'm cheap. (broke)

I am going to do the engine now and worry about the rest of the crap later (suspension needs some things, body needs some things, interior needs some things, etc lol) So... if you have any rebuild parts that you are not going to use or would like to get rid of, I might be interested

I hope to have the engine out by tomorrow evening, and hopefully I'll have the head off to check out the bores. I'm planning on re-ring if the bores are smooth. I am going to replace the main and rod bearings. I will also need a clutch and the associated parts. My clutch master has a small leak, so I should probably replace those things too. I do have a new water pump and belts laying around so that is one positive.

So basically I have 2 months and I suppose it can 'break in' on the way to Ohio This is gonna be interesting...

I needed a project anyway.

i have some intake gaskets-new- but if you buy a top end kit they come with it. Ive priced around for gaskets when i rebuilt mine and best prices-ive found- were paragon products and 944online and both are stand up guys.

Yea I was expecting to go through paragon for a block and a head gasket set. I guess I was hoping someone may have a set of rings or bearings or something along those lines they won't be using.

The only thing I fear is the oil pan gasket, LOL.
I guess I'll see what happens

oil pan gasket comes w/ the lower kit, really only need uper and lower kit, then youll want the bolts for the clutch cuz they strip out easily, and new clutch disk if its old. Good luck finding spare bearings laying around ,they are like 250 for both sets....and if your not having the cylinder linings reconditioned i wouldnt put new rings in-personally. i didnt.

Put new rings. Don't worry about honing the cylinder walls.

I have a set of standard rod bearings I'll ship for $50. Paragon lists for about $65.
