Default where is the water comming from???

I just got into my newly accuired 1986 944 and the floor on the drivers side is all wet. it has been raining but i cannot see where it is comming from. I remember reading something about this being a common problem with the 944. Can someone tell me how the water might be getting in and how to stop it.
Thanks
~mark

check if someone drilled a hole in your battery tray to route power to an amp for your stereo

but seriously, i had the same problem, and it's usually a leak in the battery tray.

be careful, cuz the DME is on that side on late 944's.

juan, on late 44's, fuse box and battery are on opposite sides. fuse box would be where the leak could be

Check the firewall for missing grommets (I found my leak where a grommet had come loose), check around the clutch linkage, I have also heard of water coming in through the fresh air vents, especally if the seal is warped or loose.

Check that no one piped a garden hose into your interior or cowl area while you weren't looking.

Also check the drain pipe that runs just above the pedal cluster.....

You can see where it rusted through on my car:
