Prices for these are complete bullsh*t. They are normally simple pieces of aluminum with threaded ends and a steel mounting plate. Just to give you an example, you can buy front and rear strut tower bars for the Nissan 240sx off ebay at roughly $20-30 for both! The saying what you pay is what you get doesn't really apply here as the materials are so inexpensive. Yet another example of overcharging because of the badge on the hood. I can't remember the manufacturer (KLA maybe?) but the cheapest I've seen for 944's is ~$149. I can understand prices over $150 if the strut bar has a carbon fiber or titanium center.

DanAllen944, what do you have done to your car suspension wise? A front strut bar is such a marginal increase in handling that I would consider going with stiffer springs first, if you haven't already. If you have, then maybe go with 968 caster blocks or something else. I'd save this for the last thing you do as it's not too cost effective for what you get.

who is it that makes the strut tower brace that connects at like four points? I can't remember what they used for the lower mounts, but does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Stable Energies makes the one that has for points of contact, and most important, NO HEIM JOINTS.

I see carbon fiber braces - how stiff can those be? Not sure the cost would be worth the 1 to 2 lb difference in weight
