Unhappy for sale: 83 944

my car lost oil pressure a few days ago (0 on the gauge) and started making a really bad noise, so i shut it down fast. unfortunately at this time i don't have the time or money to fix it.

overall the car is in blah condition, there's a bunch of things that need work on. in the past 18 months i have replaced the water pump, belts and front oil seals ( i dont drive much - 10 miles/day for work). last december i replaced front struts, tie rods(complete), ball joints, motor mounts, sway bar bushings and new front tires. rear tires are about 2 years old.
the interior is rough, no radio, heat is always on, speedo not working.
body is in good shape, no dents, no rust
glass is all good

kinda rare... born in April of 1982

i have some pictures that will try to attach to this post.

i'd like to get $1000...

thanks all

It's tough to sell a car with your current issues. Good luck though. These cars are enthusiasts cars and unless you do your own work they will make the P-dollars fly from the wallet in no time.

Around here non running 944s needing engines go for $500 to $750. If you get that car near L. A., I pay you $750 for it.

Man,
Your not kidding that car needs love!
15" Phone Dials I did not think that 1983's came with phone dials. Normally they were all cookie cutters.

those doorpanels alone might be worth near 100 bux, depending on how thrashed they are. I bought a set of black ones at the hershey swap meet that need some restoration for 100. They were only used on 944's in 82', until some people started complaining that porsche was plastering their name every where possible. I like the 82' cars, but I guess im happily engaged to my 83', although at the moment it is sucking money out my pocket like a hoover.

If I was much closer.......I'd give ya $500.00 for 'er! Yes, it looks like it needs tons of work to make it a fine car again, butt, it shore does look like a SAVER........NOT, a parter.

Oil pressure lost like that, makes me think its the OPRV is stuck. Easy thing to fix. Pull it out, clean it with solvent, and a little scotchbrite, put 'er back in, and away ya go again. PLEASE!.......try it.

Don't scrap/part another '83. I"ve parted out two of them. One power steering car, and one manual steering car. I REALLY regret parting the manual steering car. I could have saved that one, if I'd have been just a little more experienced with these cars at the time. IMHO, they are worth saving, if at all possible.

Good luck!
