Question Who was making those roll bars for our cars???

They were red or black, and he usually had them ready by Hershey? Like $400 or something like that?

Bolted in to the passenger seat belt mounts or something.

Was that here, or should I ask on the PCA board?? I can't remember.

Ok, here is what I would like to see. Someone with a junk 44 that they are going to scrap. This company provide them with a roll bar. Then get a forklift pick up the 44 and roll it over a few times and drop the body from a few feet!

That would be gold for that company to advertise.
Yes, I know I am crazy

Better yet:
Take that same junker 944 with a roll bar, put it on a flat bed/dump truck.
Go 60 mph and dump it off the back.

That would be great if you put the car on sideways

This "company" is Redlineman here on Rennlist. He has photos on his website of a car smacked in the back with one of these bars.

It's a good product. I wish all the installs to my 944 were as easy....Though I cut my finger on the packaging. But that's just me.

FWIW, you can also tow your car by the rollbar. Ask me how I know.

Im guessing you tow backwards with the hatch open slightly so something can reach through to the bar??

Ok, so the bar is installed, and the shoulder harnesses attach to that...

Where do the lap belts and the submarine belts attach??? Is there a "bolt-on" location for those too?

Outside lap belt mounts to factory mounting point, inside lap belt bolts either to seat mount or you have to drill through the center tunnel to make a mounting point, sub belt either mounts to seat frame or you drill through the floor to affix a mount (Or use a six point and the dual sub belts wrap around the thighs and mount to the lap belt points as well.)

There is no simple way to mount belts. I have spent hours tweaking my setup, and I'm still not 100% satisfied with it.

Yeah that would make sense, not as crazy looking as I first imagined...

So if the 2 subs and the inside belt are attached to the seat frame... or even a new point...where do they go when not in use??? The shoulder belts you can put to the back and the outside you can leave off to the side... but what about those subs and the inside belt????

I'm just trying to see if I can make a bolt on setup that won't bother normal driving with a standard belt too.

Is there any problem using stock seats with 6-point belts?? That probably should have been my first question!

The problem with using stock seats with harnesses:
1. In most cases, the shoulder harness must route around the seat, causing the belts to slip off the shoulders in an impact, you go diving forward between the belts, or the belts dislocate your shoulder.
2. Either you cut a hole through your seat for the sub belt (if using one mounted in the typical fashion), or it routes over the front of the seat -- not ideal at all.

There's always a compromise in trying to go both track-safe and street-friendly. Not an easy task.

Ive toyed with the idea of running either 5 or 6pt harnesses with stock sport seats before..ONLY for autocross use, not for street and it would probably not be acceptable for DE. Ive looked at what alot of other guys in my area run with stock seats. One particular setup that looked nice was with the H-strap being placed behind the driver, but infront of the seat. i figure doing it this way will keep the harnesses on the shoulders much more effectively. I would personally rather one a 4pt harness for autocross use but noone seems to make a 4pt with that h-strap stiched in.

Im just curious, what is the best way to mount the 5pt belt..? Weld a plate into the floor and anchor it, or can it be attached under the seat somewhere?

This is the h-strap harness i was refering to

I plan to do the harness eventually, but want to get the Redline harness / roll bar..i personally wouldnt trust just a harness bar with stock seats.
