I'd recommend getting a 944 as a daily driver, but since you already have one......never mind.

I'll add to the general feeling of this thread...

I think a 944 makes a great daily driver. The only reason it wouldn't is if one of the major things has been knowingly neglected or put-off (belts, waterpump, clutch). If you know the "big 3" are solid, then there's no reason not to drive the 944 daily! I've been putting about 400-500 miles/week on mine over the last 8 weeks, and I love driving her. My "daily" is a Volvo which still has a blown H/G...and part of the reason I haven't fixed the Volvo is because I like driving the 944 so much...even though the Volvo is faster.

I think you will be happy with a mid 90s 3 series. At least after some minor upgrades. I have both a 944NA and a e36 BMW convertible. I upgraded to M3 suspension and wheels and it handles as good if not better than the 944. It is also much faster and in the end is really as fun or more fun than the 944.

THey are more expensive than 944s though. It is hard to find a nice one under $5000 or so and I paid $3000 for my 944 in pretty good condition. So you may want to think about that first. I have seen 944s go as low as $1500 in ok running condition on ebay.

Oh and no offense to L8 APEKS, but I wouldnt drive a Volvo either if I had a 944 sitting in the garage. Actually, I wouldnt drive a Volvo if there was a Cavalier in the garage. But I have a certain strange dislike of them for some reason.

Good luck
John
