Default Infiniti Kappa 4x6 owners...question?

I'm thinking of buying a set of these, but have seen two conflicting stories. One where they will fit right in, the other where I would have to grind out the door frame to fit the speaker in.

What's the real deal?

Having installed them myself..they defenetley wont fit the front doors without sticking out, even then i dont know if the huge magnet on the back will fit.

Installation in the back is not a problem however.

I picked up as set hoping they would drop in but had to tweak the bottom of the opening with a dremel. I don't think I even took an 1/8" of material off one corner. They also stick out marginally because of the thicker plastic frame of the kappas. If you had a black door panel and grille I don't think you would even notice. Keep in mind my car is an "86 and I'm not sure if there are differences.

Nice sound though...well at least for the one I hooked up. I was going to play around with it but decided on another plan so these brand new kappas (462.5CFP) that I bought about a month ago and didn't even use, except to test fit, are going back on the market.

If you decide on the kappas, let me know...will give you a good deal otherwise off to ebay.

Alpine SPS-460A are a perfect fit for the doors.

I have a set as well as a pair of Eclipse 2 way point source 4x6's. The Eclipse fit the doors in my Cabrio (might not clear the window in a hardtop without a little spacer) and they sound better. With 4x6" you need cone area unless you have some 6.5" in the back or something. The Eclipse have a lot more cone area than the plate speakers.

I may go with these Alpines...don't want to have the Kappas sticking out for me to kick every time I get out of the car!

Crutchfield Outlet is selling these at $53.99 shipped!! Just ordered a pair.

well, i have kappa 3.5s in the doors, so no matter what, i had to modify/make stuff to make them fit. 5x7 in the back, whick i definitly had to cut to fit. they sound really really great, however ive never heard alpines in person.
