How can you prove the prints came off of your car? All he has to do is say he was walking by, and touched the nice porsche. Even if you find the print inside the car ,you will not be able to prove it. The police will not do anything about this guy. Unless you caught him on video, there is no proof. Deal with the insurance company. If you have never stalked anyone before and returned the favor, a criminal is not the best person to practice the art of retribution on.

He could alway hire a forensic investigator on his own. That's what I did when my neighbor backed into my car and denied it till he was blue in the face...
If he was in the car, thee's gotta be evidence. A single hair.

Too bad you are not in Texas. You could call him up, tell him you found his ID, mail it too him and thank him for not stealing the amp in the back. Then sit outside and wait until he came back, shoot him, call the police...problem solved.

I don't know about the US, but here in the UK if you sue for loss and the other party doesn't turn up, or doesn't pay, you can often claim the loss against tax.

Police just gave me a ring. He asked me a few questions about the damage to the vehicle. The est. value on repairs and items stolen was under 1k.
He suggested I sue him as well.
I'll let you guys know the court date and you can attend if you like. Thanks for all your support.

My favorite dumb criminal story:
A guy goes into a 7-11 and puts a $20 on the counter, asking for change. When the clerk opens the drawer, the guy reaches in and grabs a handful of money and runs, leaving his $20 on the counter. Supposedly he only grabbed an amount of $1 bills that was less than the $20 he left behind. So, he lost money on the theft.
