Default Anyone familiar with heated seat electrics?

I managed to pick up a pair of heated sport seats a few years ago. The heated driver seat functions intermittently. When it works, it's fantastic. But half the time, it won't work. I haven't begun tracing any of the circuits for shorts yet but was hoping someone here was familiar with the problem.

I dont even know how mine are supposed to work? I dont know what controls them or anything and I cant tell if the heat is on my butt because of the regular heater or if the seats are actually working. Just a giant friggin mystery to me. Probably because my IQ is below room temperature.

I'll be interested to see how this thread turns out.
Sorry i have nothing to add though.

If you can't tell if they're on, they're not working. My heated seats are scalding hot when on. I would just like it if they'd consistently be on when I request instead of being intermittent.

I'll test the switch, and swap the relays to see if that's what it is.

But no knowledge here?

Could be a loose connection in the big block connector under the seat.

If they work anything like those on my Audi, it's essentially a big long wire resistor. Frequently over the course of time the wire either breaks or separates. Sounds like what you may be experiencing... if the wires shift and lose contact, no heat. But once they hook back up....

Well... i have a fuse for it, its in the option code and the seats have the little holes in them, so I just assumed so.

I'm curious too, although pretty soon I won't be needing mine on with the warm weather.

Default "little holes"

Calmchaos,

By "the seats have the little holes in them" are you referring to the perforated leather? If so, that doesn't indicate that you have heated seats.

However, since it's in the option code there should be a switch on the side of the seat.
