The 2.5L is a dog compared to the 951. I like the 2.7 cars and the S models are great. I just drove a 987 at the track doing some tire testing and it BLOWS THE DOORS off the 986. I got out of that Boxster wanting to head to the dealer and buy one. I like Boxsters, in general, I dont like the 2.5L cars.

And the 987 sounds pretty good right out of the box!

If the idea is to save some money with a nice car, then this looks like a good deal. Have you considered low-mileage 968s? They would cost about the same or less than this boxster.
I actually have considered the 968. They have a cabrio coming in next week that is the exact color combo I would like in a boxster. I plan on driving it, but I doubt it. I will probably enjoy the boxster the most out of hte two. It has had its PPI and came back great. Has had a lot of recent maintenance, I just wish it were black with tan (or) red interior...

As far as the Charger goes, its actually a fun car. Its big, heavy, but powerful, even for a v6. And it suprisingly handles great!! Its just not a Porsche, which I don't like. ANd plus, I drive about 6 different chargers a day, just not what I want anymore...

Chris's suggestion about the TT is a good one. Go check one out, and maybe a VW gti also. Keep it in the family, of course, with VW/Audi/Porsche, but this way you can open up some options. Remember, the 911 is a derivative of the old beetle, and the TT is a derivative of the new beetle, so they share some DNA.

Remember however... Front wheel drive sucks.

I had a GTI 1.8T. Nice car, but being FWD really let it down. The TT is fwd and on some models they add some power to the rear wheels.

I've been considering a Boxster S for a while now, Tim.
no warranty is a tough one for me on a Boxster.
And dont forget, you can't work on the car like we can on the 944's.

Well, I took it on a test drive today and did a little snooping around. For the most part, it seems that any items I can do myself on the Boxster, I will be able to do easily. Some things will be a little pricier, some things much cheaper. But, it did drive great.

In fact, up to 3k rpm's...that thing is much faster than the 951. After that though, 951 would blow by it. But, that doesn't mean that I didn't fall in love with it after a couple miles of driving.

In other words, look for a Boxster in my sig line in the next two months.

Actually Tim,, You be suprized how easy it is to work on the boxster, It just requires removing the main engine cover which isn't bad, and lot of it can be done from underneath the car. Changing oil is actually really easy on that car as you can access the oil filter in the Driver's side wheel well. ANd besides You only change the oil once a year or every 15,000 miles on teh boxster. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the Boxster you when get one, they are still to this day one of my favortie Porsche's to Drive

Your nuckin futs. You probably should have bought a boxster in the first place if thats what you wanted. Now, you want to forefeit a new car with a warranty to save $75/month and get an 80k mile boxster?
