Hey, any thought to talking to Fred Baker about sponsoring at some level? What since this will be at NL and he introduced the 951 to the US market there, might be kind of cool connection. Also, Kumho seems to throw tires around a lot at DEs and they are right there in Fairlawn or near abouts, maybe see what they might be willing to do.

Since I'll be trailering the car, I may have room to bring a gas grill for cooking. If I'm lucky, I'll even remember to bring the propane.

No matter how it's done, out of all this, it's just good to see your enthusiam for the event that you created come back again Dan.
And the date looks good too. With it floating around in July, I was hoping for no conflict with the USGP F1 Indy race.

As for what roles I might be able to help with, I'll shoot you a PM later today Dan (I'm at work right now...).
But you know you can depend on myself and a few others for fireside entertainment.
Maybe I'll help Dan J with the trophies (I have a powder coating rig and limited access to a machine shop at work).
Maybe a Jello tech session?
Just good to know that it's gonna' happen again. In addition to seeing all the old gang again, it's always good to see folks from here that I haven't met yet.

And I'll be bringing exta clothes for Winslow's fashion makeover.

Update. I just got off the phone with Winslow, and I've got a great partner heading in to this event. We made a few decisions, and laid out our path forward.

For starters, we have tenatively set the limit for our lapping day to 40 cars. If we get half that, we'll be fine. When I open registration, I'll accept the first 20 novice and the first 20 advanced applications. If we can maintain a 1/1 student to mentor ratio we'll have an ideal mix. We can probably do 3 run groups where every driver gets near 3 hours of track time, if not more. Winslow is going to be in charge of the track day, Dan Jauch will probably be our head tech. We'll still need several other volunteers, a track day takes a lot of work. I'll do registration, when I open the doors you Rennlisters will be the first to know.

Doing some research, we found a couple of non big name hotel/motels inside of ten miles. Winslow and I chatted and it looks like we will be keeping base camp at Nelsons all weekend, instead of going off site for Saturday night's activities. We'll still go out and about on a Gimmick Rally Saturday afternoon, but sat dinner will most likely be back at the grills at the track site.

Travis is finding redemption in a sponsor quest, he's going to be updating my website and putting the touch on some suppliers for support.

It really feels good to get the wheels turning, and not having to be the one doing all the work. Thanks everyone who is signed up to help.

Is the road course a Porsche only kind of deal? I will be there regardless, but if its open to other makes I may bring both cars. If anyone needs any help with anything let me know.

Thanks Dan and Winslow. I love that Dan is stepping up for another go - awesome!!

Looks like I will have to do some work to get some domestic credits lined up so that I can attend. Lisa and I had scheduled our annual Sturgis vacation right in that time frame, but I am hoping I can make this work. If I can, I will definitely be there for Friday and will volunteer to help however with whatever you assign me.

Regards,

Redemption... As I recall, I didn't hear any protests at the time of said events.. that may, or may not, require an act of redemption... Gator-Master

I will get the site rolling and updated with info in the next few weeks.

Good point Manning. They have some of the best ribs you'll eat and I'm sure we can get a big take out order.

As for the Fred Baker connection, it certainly is an interesting thought. In the past the event was aligned with Stoddard as the Porsche dealer/sponsor. Sometime I have a hard time linking the event to high end, upscale businesses because I think of it as a grassroots, rowdy bachanal. Who knows, now that we have legitimate track time, we may be moving up market a bit!

If there is enough interest and funds, maybe Blazin Bill's could do a little catering..

Sam, I'm not sure about your M3 participant. I know your 951 is too nice to track, but I probably should reserve space for guys who want to run Porsches. How much track experience do you have? How would you get them both down here?

I don't know.... We'll have to think about that one.
You HAVE been a generous donor in the past...
Hmmmm...
