Just stick a nice speaker in the spot in the middle of the dash, above the console, where the 5th speaker goes. In that spot you can use as deep of a speaker as you want! Sure, you can't have stereo, but after all this is a sports car not a theater!
Seriously though, in my mom's car we used 5.25" Infinity Kappas with boxes that space them out. Black stuff on black door panels doesn't look too bad at all. The slightly undesirable non-stock aspect is greatly outweighed by the great increase in sound quality.

That spots only available on pre-85.5 944s, I do believe. And I do think michaelathome changed the trend for us all, aside from not having a big screen tv, his car is as close to a theater as you're gonna get.
