The "H" in the VIN (plus the airbags and 968 wheels) suggest that it's an 87 model. Maybe this was a prototype for the 87 model -- still very cool! ![Cool](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I'm sure the vehicle's manufacture date is still 1986 -- that'd be on the sticker under the hood. Maybe that's why the owner thinks it's an 86 model.

The H in the VIN indicates it is a MY 1987 car. It is also a very early production version for that year with serial # 00008.
EDIT: Joe's got it.

what would be the effect of having a 4 - 1 header instead of a 4-2-1? less restrictions in the airflow? wouldnt that be more complex to balance out correctly vs the 4-2-1?
