Where to find interior color code?
Looking at my options list in the hatch, I don't see an interior color code. I have the L041 for a black exterior but nothing for the interior.
Next to where "Exterior/Interior" is written I have "L041/L041". I'M 90% sure it's Linen which should be 8WC but I don't see it anywhere.
It's not too big of a deal but when looking for interior parts, I like to give part numbers and color codes to avoid mistakes.
Thanks.

L041 isn't even the valid interior color code for black, if that were the case. You're right about the 8WC, but on my options list I also don't see the interior color code even though it should be 4JR. Could be that they don't even list the color code.

On that same line where it says L041/L041, to the far right, there should be this ---/ and a 2 letter code. That is your interior code. Linen was introduced for the MY 1989, so if your car is an 88 you probably have the light grey interior. The code for leather light grey is LQ, and cloth light grey is XP. Those are the interior codes that will appear on the sticker. That 3 digit code for linen you mentioned will not appear on that sticker, it might be another internal code that appears on the WSM's and/or parts list/PET.

FWIW - I've yet to get this all figured out. The interior option code(s) covers the choice of material and seat style as well as color. So the distinct "color code" isn't part of the build information.
The problem arises when trying to match new material or dye or a new piece to an existing interior.

LQ it is! Good call. Only recently did I learn that Linen was not introduced until 89. What's funny about the color is that it looks like Linen is a better description as it's a very light tan color, not a light grey....
