Default P-car online............what happened??

Did anyone notice that P-Car Online was offline for a day or so recently, and now that it is back the photos are outdated? I had all recent photos of my car on there and now there are shots from way back, as if I used that wayback website to look it up. Or is it just me?

LOL, you are right. And the nose/splitter that are in your pics are in my pics too, I took those photos right after I bought those from you and installed them (the same weekend).

That's Matt Olde's site, correct? I understand that Matt is in Air Force OCS, and probably isn't able to monitor the site (and may not be for awhile).

Hey guys,
I am taking care of Matt's stuff while he is away. Here is the deal with PcarOnline right now.

Matt's dedicated server crashed a hard drive last weekend. About 15 sites went with it all together. The script to backup the drive to the other server hasn't run since... oh.. last year some time so that's the copy I was able to reload. I tried to mount up the crashed drive to the new one but it will not mount.

So... the drive is in rout to a data recovery center. They are going to poke around in it and try to get the data off of it. They said it should not be a problem. So.. as soon as they get that done I will get it mounted up and will transfer the data over. Don't make any changes between now and when I get the toasted drive data back on the server. They will be lost when it is reloaded.

Just letting you guys know. Matt... not that you can access the internet in OTC but I hope they are kicking your a$$ up there.

3 months... and with any luck, the server issue will be the last fire to put out while he is away. I can't think of anything else that "could" go wrong that hasn't already...

Matt's doing well - he has 9 weeks left. It's a hard program, but he's a tough guy.

What's the update on this? I checked out my P-Car Online and it was way outdated just like Tifo's. Have they gone through the data recovery centre? I had some info on my site that would be a pain to find again...

Well... here is the update. They quoted 6k to recover the drive???? They are shipping it to me and I am going to take a shot at it. I cannot believe they were using an IBM "Deathstar" drive in the server. If I were matt, I would change dedicated hosting companies as soon as I got out.

I have root access now to the server so if I can pull the P-car data off it I will load it up. If not, I guess everyone will just have to make new profiles. Don't get started yet though because there is still hope.

Another little tid bit of info. With the back date on PcarOnline there were over 700 members dropped.

And.. Matt is just kicking back and having fun while we are P-caronlineless.

Thanks Travis, I hope all goes well, and you don't need to drop $6000!

Thanks for the update, Travis... I was wondering about this last month. Good luck on the data recovery!
