The mazda was falling apart. I traded it for the GTI with a little over 30k on it.
It had been in the shop 3 times to get the muffler replaced, and twice to get the front axles 'reseated' whatever the hell that means (clicking on accel). It was fun though, and I kinda miss it.
The GTI is a pig in comparison It feels so heavy around the corners, and doesn't like to change direction very quickly. But its alright I suppose. I'll probably trade it for something else soon.

here's mine...its currently for sale
t3/4 60 trim turbo, 440cc injectors, 3" turbo-back exhaust, KW v-1 coilovers, recaro seats, OEM HIDs,just to name a few...
At the moment, she feels more nimble than the 944.

Too bad the susp. geometry is all screwed up because you slammed it(gti), with proper ride height and some good spring rates the mk4 gti CAN give any moded 944 a run for the money in the corners i had an apr stg3 1.8T, those were some good times and some surprised vette and pcar owners
Nice 944 project, GL with it
BTW, i've been on the tex for like 4 years now.

I'm just comparing to the mazda 3
I took the 3 to a pca auto-x with only 300 miles on it, only had it for 3 days.
I whipped ***. Many people came up to me asking what I had done with it, "uh... nothing"
I beat every 944 that came in on street tires, and was half way through the boxsters.
The GTI just feels heavier. But its nicer to drive, other than the noises (squeaks/rattles).
I had no problem running from a 944 n/a in the mountains in the GTI.

i was referring to the orig. poster. It's just that there is a giant misconception in VW world about perceived and real handling. Almost every "performance" vw i see is slammed, which INCREASES the roll center and completely screws up the geometry, for optimal handling MK4 cars have to retain stock ride height.
AS is the case with the MK1 gen cars. This is my gti with a performance suspension, can you say wheel gap?
that was my lil rant, sorry, BACK ON TOPIC!!!
