Default Help Koni 8040 Rear Shock Adjustment

So, I'm ready to put on the new Koni shocks, rear (8040 1035Sport), I've search the Koni web site, not much luck on the rennlist search, email Koni yesterday, no answer (must be out racing, right now I hope they are losing) so here's the deal: the directions which come with the shocks are like clueless but imply that the adjustment is 720 degrees, the web site says 5 half-turns (900 degrees) I could live with that difference, but when I try to adjust the shocks per the directions I only get maybe a little more than 2 half-turns, 400 degrees. Why don't they put some tick marks on the shaft to help in adjustment?

I meet definite resistance at 400 degrees and "directions say" not to force.

So, I don't know whether to set them someplace and put them on or return them.

I had hope to get the rears on tonight and fronts tomorrow. I thought the shocks would be simple on a Fri night. ;-)

Think I've got an attitude??? Maybe I should find a beverage?

I really would appreciate some thoughts on this.

I used a sharpie marker to make marks so i can atleast get an idea as to how far i was rotating them. The instructions i used from Tech-Session said you will get between 3-5 rotations.

I wish the Koni struts and shocks had clicks. My friends have Tein coil-overs in their RSX Type-S and WRX, they have like 8 clicks you can do, instead of kinda guessing where you have the struts or shocks set.

I also looked at this site, which is where I bought the shocks. I did exactly what you did, marked the cylinder, 13 cm around. But the problem I still have is why do the directions say 2 to 2.5 rotations and I only get a little more than one? Older version of the shock?

I've ordered some of these rear shocks (koni 8040-1035sport), and just looking up any info on them , before they arrive.
anyone fitted these and are they easy to adjust?
Also what setting would they come with out of the factory?

I have Koni Yellows on my 1988 944 base. I set the rears to 1 turn from full soft, and I think the ride if great at that setting. I think they come out of the box full soft.
For these shocks I don't think I checked how many turns they'd go to before resistance. I know that for the fronts I can get about 2 full turns max. However, on my Audi TT the rears only went about 1 1/3 turns max... so, to the original posting, I'd suggest you don't force it beyond where there is resistance. Possibly the rears just can't go the full 2 turns.
And as you probably know, the rears need to be adjusted off of the car. The fronts are adjustable after installation.

Thanks for that.
do you have to fully compress each shock to adjust and
Does it include full instructions with the boxed shocks?

yes, they have to be fully compressed. Instructions do come with the shocks but they’re pictograms and kinda cryptic.

Rears (mine at least) are button adjust. Youll have to lift the car, secure on jackstands and remove the lower shock bolt. From there you can compress, push the button and twist as needed

Yeah I did look them up before posting, but couldn't find any on the yellow rears I'm getting. No press button to adjust apparently, just twisting the body a certain amount of degrees, I believe.

The videos page I linked has the process for adjusting all the different styles of Koni shocks (not just button style) - you just need to spend some time looking through them.
