Default Bigger=better? (injectors)

OK I have a decision to make. With my upcoming turbo upgrade (t04e) I need to upgrade my injectors. My question is, what size should I get? It looks like the Lindsey Siemens "power pack" setup is a pretty good option, offering the flavors of 48, 55, 72, 83 and 93 pound-per-hour injectors. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just get the largest (93) since this will put all my driving WELL within the injector's duty cycle. I've also heard that John (Vitesse)'s chips are particularly good with smoothing out any irregularity and poor idle characterisitcs often found with big-injector setups. I'd kind of like to just buy these once rather than going to a 55# setup now (and paying for chips) and then a 72# setup later when I add a MAF (and paying for new chips) and then maybe 83# injectors after the exhaust and everything else is fully tweaked (and paying for new chips).

Is this a good way forward?

What about the Bosch injectors? They only come in a max. 52# size, but wouldn't that be less likely to cause me problems with smog check? Has anyone actually had their injectors fail them on the visual inspection?

I'd like to upgrade in phases. I have the turbo now and I'll be getting the Tial wastegate and EBC in about two weeks. The thought of adding a $1,200 exhaust and a $1,500 MAF on top of that is a bit too much all at once, on top of the price of the chips. Phased/staged upgrades are the way to go.

72 should be fine unless you are going to go further with your enhancements.

Jeff, You're gonna love the Tial... they're AWESOME... I love hearing it dump... even though it's still through the stock exhaust... awesome sound, incredible boost holding...can't get any better...

Don't go TOO big, it will limit the injector duty cycle to a value so low it may not operate correctly. Typically, running below 10% duty cycle (from my professional experience) provides less than consistant flow. On the flip side, running too small of an injector and running near 100% (static flow) can burn up an injector as well as not provide an adequate amount of fuel.

For the turbo you will be running however, I would consult the individual you are buying chips from to determine what size would be appropriate for that turbo (and future mods).

vitesse sells injectors now, since he's gonna be doing the chip for your setup (and I'm assuming eventually a maf) just ask him which he recommends, I'd guess 72 or 83 will be the best bet

you can get 55's from racetronix.com(something like that) they are the cheapest ($60each). I would use 72lbs 'ers and a bosch motorsport 044 pump ( can be found for $225-250 on the net)

I shall consult the Oracle Vitesse and return with His counsel. . .
