Default Lose 10 lbs off the 944 the easy way!

Doing some work on my 944 this morning and I noticed some road debris jammed up into the fender wells. After about 10 mins of digging it out with my hands I ended up with this mess!

Left side:

Right side:

Its a soaking wet mixture of northwest water, road fluids, mud, pebbles, and cedar needles. What a freakin mess. Each pile is easily 5 lbs.

I got out as much of it as I could and will get in there with a hose and soft brush next weekend when I have more time.

I just got the car, and when I gave it a quick washing last weekend, I got a ton of this crud from both the front and back wheel wells, so I though I had gotten most of it. Apparently not.

I have so much black crap on my transmission, it looks really bad. How can I clean off my undercarriage. Would a pressure washer damage anything?

What to know another way to remove 33.5 pounds?...Remove the spare tire.

Yea, I've got a lot of black crap around the trans too. I don't think that a pressure washer would do it. I think you have to get under there with a wire brush and carefully do it my hand!

My 924S did not have the front fender liner, the gap between the fender and the side of the car would pick up so much crap it was unbelieveable. During the winter it used to get packed with snow.

I was wondering about that. Does the 944 have an inner fender line that fits towards the back there?

If not, has anyone fabricated one?

It sure needs it.

The '85.5+ 944 has a plastic fender liner that covered both the front and the rear.

Thanks! I'll look into getting them and seeing if I can fit them to my '83.

The later cars had studs on the inside of the fender well where plastic nuts held the covers in place. I guess you could fabricate something. If you can't find any close to you, I have a pair.
