i have that model- i built it the week before i bought my turbo, painted it the same colors- or close- to get an idea what it looked like or could look like. I think i need to repaint it to match better though.

I started with jets, then moved to Star Trek models. I still like jets, but I've made all the ones I like. I think I still need an F-5. Star Trek is where it's at though. I never found car models appealing because it's so hard to get it to look real. With sci-fi, there's no such thing as "real" so it's got a degree of artistic freedom. But I do have a couple 911 models I need to make.

The only car models I'd ever get are of cars that I absolutely love and want, but would never in my right mind actually own. Like an old 911 or a 50s 300sl. Or a Zonda!

I noticed a 928 model for sale here while searching for something else.

I would like a 924S / 944 metal one like the model I got of the Celica from the dealer. I think it's called Performance Series or something like that.

I can agree on the latter part, but I like building cars because the process of making a model to look real is where the level of difficulty and fun comes into play. Plus, it's a lot cheaper to build a 1/24th Hemi 'Cuda convertible with a 4 speed, then it is to build a 1/1 version!

I built these two as a teen almost 20 years ago and recently purchased the GT1. I have had a hard time starting the GT1 with a 1:1 scale 951 in the garage but some day.

Heh, I picked up the Revel 951 model a month or two ago...it is in production, I picked mine up from an ordinary hobby shop (in Switzerland, mind you...I don't know if they're being sold in the US). I heard it's an old Hasegawa mold...? it is definitely not the same as the Testors/Italeri versions (I built 3 of those way back when).

I'm going to do my best to make it look like my '89 turbo...so I also ordered a Fujimi 928GT model, just for the club sport wheels. Converting the 951 to the US-spec body style should be...interesting. Anybody know of a 1:24 porsche kit that has an airbag steering wheel? (Anybody have one and need 1:24 928 parts?)

[FYI I got the 928GT kit from Hobbylink Japan, hlj.com, for about $20, shipped. If you want a current kit from fujimi, hasegawa, etc, give them a try, I thought they were good to deal with.]
