My 944 ate a garbage bag...
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
Driving to work to day (zero traffic, doing 80 all the way), I rolled over a plastic garbage bag (empty) that was floating on the road. When I didn't see it come out the rear, I pulled over. The bag was stuck under the car, and when I pulled it out, some of it was melted onto my cat and exhaust heat shields!?
Since I have no way of crawling under the car and pulling the remains out, is this a fire risk? The plastic was smoking a little under there.
First time I drive the car in 2 weeks, and this sillyness happens!

It will never come off of those parts but it will eventually stop smoking.

Permanent scars, and a nice burning plastic smell. Great! I guess it's better than getting into an accident trying to avoid the damned bag!

The smell does go away after a while. Seems to be one of the hazards of driving in late Fall -- lots of plastic bags blowing around with the leaves. It's better than the other Fall hazard -- hitting a deer!

I thought you were going to say you dropped your oil cap and used a trash bag to stuff the hole till you got home....
(anyone who reads OT knows what I'm getting at)
At least now your car hsa some character.. i bet not many others have garbage bag scars on the exhaust.

It COULD be worse, you could have JUST installed your brand new $1220 exhaust and be test driving the car when it happens and it COULD melt to the BRAND SPANKING NEW exhaust tip on one side...
