Default more progress tonight.

the brake job has turned into much more.

on the list now and hopefully to be completed tomorrow are rebuilt a-arms, 26mm swaybar, manual steering rack, AC delete, and random weight savings.

the manual rack came off one of the two euro cars we have. the steering shaft is very rusted, as is the entire car for that matter, and one of the joints is locked up bad. I dont know if PB blaster can even eat through it. We might have to ge t anew one. also, is it normal for the manual rack to have a small dead spot in it near the middle while your turning it?

we just had the new races pressed in at our local machine shop, which is turning out to be quite handy, and the bigger race doesnt look like its seated all the way? is there sposed to be a one mm gap in between the race and the part where it looks like it should rest?

The swaybar bushings should get here tomorrow so i can put it on and start putting everything else together. the swaybar, a-arms, spindles and hubs, the struts, and the manual rack (which by the way is prolly going to be a real bitch to get on. especially the steering link[which hopefully will unfreeze]).

I deleted the ps resevoir and the rest is coming off tomorrow. the charcoal canister and associated bits of hoses. the windsheild washer resevoir and the ac comes off tomorrow.

heres a pic of the ronals getting stripped. ive been pondering some colors and i decided i dont want the body color on them.

White rims look good on a red car. lowered cars with black rims always look good.
what color do you think I should paint them. (orange is creeping into my head )

Did you ever find a replacement Ronal, or did you get yours fixed?

What should you paint your rims? Black and gunmetal.

Black for the recessed areas and gunmetal for the raised. Done deal.

PS- IMO, white rims on red cars only work on Mitsubishis.

We found a set of replacement Ronals in which the one we kept was the only good one! It was a very misleading ebay ad. We put the other four on ebay with a good description of the problems with them. They will make a good set of track wheels for someone after they straighten out the bent one from the accident.

Good luck with your progress I can't wait to ditch my AC and PS PS on S2 does feel like the best power rack i've driven though maybe i'll keep it until it gives out.
