Default Water leak to driver footwell

The carpet on the driver side is very very wet. I cant see any water dripping in and the drain hole by the fuse box seems clear; there is not crud there now.

The car doesnt seem to have any rust at all around this area, or on the other side by the battery.

Any ideas about where to look? The passenger side is fine and dry.

Due to the coldish Norwegian weather right now, the car is almost permanently misted on all of the windows. Have to fix this before the snow comes (and melts).

Any ideas of typical things to look for?

Regards

SimonC

Make sure the long black plastic piece that sets down over both wipers is in place and not missing. When I bought my 951 that was in the back and it leaked like heck. Once I put it in place the leak completely vanished.

I second the sunroof drains and seals. Take weedwhacker line and clear them out if needed.

OK. I will check out the sunroof drains. Can anybody explain how the water gets from the roof (if clogged) down to the driver footwell? Just interested, thats all.

When they get clogged, the water can run down the inside of the body (under the panels) and settle in the footwells.

Good luck.

What about on a Cab? I get the same problem when it pours outside.

I haven't really checked into it because I don't use my car in the rain that often. But it is an issue.

With a Cab, it can be anywhere. I won't begin to speculate.

I had the same thing happen to me last week. It happened to me because the door seal is dried out in the front. I am parking in the garage until I get the replacement seal.

Good luck. Water leaks are almost as frustrating as electrial problems...

I have also had a leak in the driver's door seal and around the hatch seal (but that would get the back seat wet too). Feel the carpet under the driver's door and see if that's wet all the way up to the door.

Simon, my 83 had a similar problem in the rainy Caribbean for over a year until I located the leak.

One thing you can do is wait until it's dark out (or turn the lights out in the garage) open the engine hood and put a flashlight in the driver side foot well. Make sure it's pointing upwards, or get someone to help you. Go back to the engine compartment.

Look for a speck of light in the firewall area or bulkhead, and that will be your leak.

I patched mine up with some liquid silicone and that was the end of the leak. Good luck!

Do a search under my name and the word "leak". I had the same problems as you.

OK, thanks. You had a windshield seal problem. I will check that in the morning.

Now, if anybody could tell me how to disconnect the gas pedal from the linkage rod, so that I can get the carpet out. I can feel theres a clip on the pin, but cant see it. How do I get the clip off?
